Nedenia P. Barber was born in Augusta, Georgia to the late Deacon Elliott and Missionary Louise Parker. She gave her life to Christ at age 10 at Greater Mt. Cannon Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia under the leadership of Reverend Nathaniel Irvin. She accepted her call to preach at the age of 23 while serving active duty military in the United States Air Force as a young adult.
She served as an Itinerant Pastor in the United Methodist Church Denomination for 20 years preaching, teaching, revitalizing ministries, administering pastoral care, birthing new ministries, training and equipping leadership and restructuring order in the local churches. She has served on numerous boards within the UMC denomination which sharpen her in pastoral care functions, administratively and apostolically. After being led by the Spirit of God, Pastor Barber transitioned out of the United Methodist Church denomination in 2013. Pastor N. P. Barber was consecrated as Bishop through Light of the World Christian Tabernacle International Association under the leadership of Archbishop Ruth W. Smith. She presently serves as Chair of Ministries and Coordinates Intercessory Prayer for The Light of The World Covenant Fellowship Association.
Bishop Nedenia P. Barber founded The Way Church International in June 2013, located in Augusta, Ga. In 2015, Bishop Barber started The Way Bible Institute School of Leadership. In 2018 The Way Global Ministries International was birthed for worldwide ministry of preaching the gospel, advancing the kingdom, apostolic missions and giving oversight or partnering with Pastors in different countries where she travels. Her International & Missions travel has taken her to Germany, Korea, Kenya Africa, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island and soon to Liberia and India.
Bishop Barber is presently working on her Doctoral Dissertation through Grand Canyon University. She has earned a Master of Divinity Degree at Erskine Theological Seminary, Bachelors of Science Degree at Voorhees College, and Associate of Arts Degree at University of Maine.
This bio-vocational Bishop is presently employed with South Carolina Department of Correction as Department Head as Senior Clinical Chaplain III and Department Head at McCormick Correctional Institution in the Pastoral Care Services Department
Bishop Nedenia P. Barber served 4 years active duty in the military United States Air Force. During these years while traveling the globe she deepened her faith in God and served in ministry wherever she was stationed.
During her 37 years of ministry she has founded numerous ministries not mention. Prayer/Intercession is a lifestyle for this dynamic teacher/preacher, pioneer, trailblazer, mentor, coach, missionary, pastor and apostolic Bishop. Bishop Nedenia P. Barber is a woman after God’s own heart who desires to be used as an ambassador of Christ in the kingdom of God for the remaining of her days. Her gift of leadership and passion for ministry is what drives her in leading others to complete their God given destiny and purpose on earth. She is married to Bishop Ulysses Barber together they have 5 adult children and 4 grandchildren.
